Struthers Elementary School held Literacy Night on January 29th for elementary school students.
Literacy Night was held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Struthers Elementary school. This event was only for grades K-1st. Throughout the night, the children went around doing different activities according to a schedule that they receive when they arrive. Parents were allowed to go around with their kids and do the activities with them.
Geno Delsignore is a senior who was one of the mascots that attended the event. He has never been the mascot , so this was his first time ever being the mascot. Even though there were other students from SHS volunteering there for Interact club and Future Teachers Club.
Both the parents and the kids were enjoying themselves.
“From my perspective, everyone was having fun and the parents were happy to see their kids having fun,” says the senior.
The mascots walked around and took pictures with everyone during these activities.
He enjoyed being the mascot and making new memories.
“My favorite part was going in there and having so much fun, meeting new people and just bringing my school spirit,” says the mascot.
The schedule that the kids were given at the beginning of the night consisted of fun activities such as bingo, reading to dogs, eating food, a raffle and more.
There were fun things for everyone to do.
“The event was fun; it was full of fun activities. It had friendly people and some good food,” says Delsignore.
