The Florida Gators had one of their best and most dominant performances in Gators’ history on January 7. They defeated Tennessee 73-43.
With how the Gators have been looking, they are looking like a scary opponent for upcoming teams to go against.
Florida had their first win against a No.1 seed in over 17 years and beat them by 30+ points against a No.1 seed Tennessee in 56 years.
The Gators kicked off the game not letting Tennessee get any opportunities against them.
“Florida never trailed Tuesday night, opening a 12-0 lead in the first half, jumping ahead by 19 points at halftime and using an 18-3 run to lead by 36 points late in the second half,” said NCAA reporters.
There was no room for defeat for the Gators; they dominated Tennessee with a lead high of 36 at one point of the game.
Sophomore center Rueben Chinyelu finished the Volunteers to extend the lead
“Chinyelu slammed home an alley oop from sophomore forward Alex Condon as an exclamation point during a 18-3 run that pushed the Gators ahead by a game-high 36 points,” said NCAA reporters.
The defense was awesome against the Volunteers, holding them to less points while going on big runs to put the ball in the hoop.
The Gators were able to hold Tennessee from scoring for almost over 7 minutes.
“A defensive slugfest began with UF winning nearly every early battle, opening a 12-0 lead as Tennessee went scoreless over 6:41. An 8-0 run on a pair of 3-pointers pushed the Gators back to that margin midway through the period,” said NCAA reporters.
The Gators’ next game is January 25 against the Georgia Bulldogs.
