Auburn is on a roll this year with one of the best records in the league and having a four game win streak after this statement win against Purdue on December 21.
Auburn started off hot in the first half from the arc hitting 5 of there 7 threes they shot a solid 71 percent, but they slowly started missing shots. They ended the game 10/26 from the three.
Johoni Broome was the one putting on a show hitting 3 of their 7 three’s in the first half. He ended the game with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
Head Coach Bruce Pearl thinks Broome was the key reason why the team came together and played for each other.
Pearl says, “Johoni Broome can guard anyone in the country inside out.”
Tahaad Pettiford scored 18 points helping the Tigers to secure the win towards the end.
Pettiford led the team in takeaways he had 5 steals and 1 of them won in the last minutes of the game.
Pearl says, “He played high intensity on defense which led to his offense.”
They played very well; this was their statement win. They are heading into the rest of their games 11-1 this win proved to other teams they are a threat this year.
Pearl is pleased with how the team plays with each other and works hard every day and that’s why the outcome is how it is.
Pearl says, “We are a well-rounded team with guys that just wanna play harder than the other team.”
They won the game 87-69. Broome was the MVP, but five other auburn players averaged 1o points a game.
Auburn showed its dominance.
Broome says, “We won the game. That’s all that matters to us. Now we’re on to the next game.”
