“Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief” is the first book of the popular series written by Rick Riordan. The book shows the journey of a young demigod trying to save Olympus.
“Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief” is a book about 12-year-old Percy Jackson who finds out he is a demigod and discovers his father is Poseidon. He attends Camp Half Blood and is sent out on a quest to retrieve Zeus’ master bolt after it was stolen by a mystery thief. Percy and his friends, Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood, must retrieve the master bolt before summer solstice to prevent a war between the Greek Gods. Percy has to try to survive a quest full of challenges and monsters in his way, trying to stop him.
In the beginning of the story, Percy and Annabeth start out skeptical of each other. Throughout the novel, they develop a friendship built off of shared experiences as they are both on the quest together. They have a personal connection since they are both demigods with parents who they have a rough relationship with. Grover and Percy built a very close friendship throughout the novel because of the dangers they faced together. Grover proved his loyalty towards Percy as Percy’s protector since he is a satyr. Percy didn’t know who his father was at the start, and at the end, he finally meets Poseidon for the first time where he learns that Poseidon helped Percy throughout his quest and cares for him, while Percy still is a skeptical about him since he was absent for the first 12 years of his life.
