Ohio State has started their season off hot having a record of 7-0-1 which is the best they have started their season off in years.
Ohio State moves up to No. 14 nationally ranked in college hockey as Lake Superior ST moved to No. 16.
Ohio State’s star player of the game centermen Sam Deckhut had a great performance scoring 2 goals and 1 assist having three total points towards Ohio State’s 9-3 win over Lake Superior ST.
Ohio State’s head coach Steve Rohlik believes that his team was dominant in all aspects of the game, keeping the pressure all throughout the game.
Rohlik said, “Well what went well uh I think what went well is we scored a lot of goals and I think we responded well to their early goal.”
Lake Superior ST hasn’t had the best start to their season being 1- 4 having to be seen struggling and not performing the best.
Lake Superior ST has moved to NO 16 ranked in the top 25 NCAA for men’s ice hockey which is supring seeing their record.
Lake Superior ST left winger Regan Milburn was the player of the game for them despite the loss having 1 assist and 1 goal helping to the 3 goals scored.
Lake Superior ST head coach Damon Whitten had confidence that his coach could have done better.
Whitten said, “I believed that we could have done better especially in the defensive zone uhh I don’t think that our defense should have let that first goal up in the first 30 seconds I believed that could have been the difference maker.”
Ohio State came into this season with high hopes coming off the heart-breaking season last year making a deep run in the playoffs hoping to win a national championship or make an even further run.
Ohio State is hoping to continue this hot streak or get even better and continue moving up in rankings to keep their hopes up of having a successful season.
Ohio State player Deckhut believes that they have a good chance of doing better than they did last year and being really successful.
Dekhut said, “ I believe we have one of the better chances in not only the Big Ten but the whole NCAA in winning the national championship or almost.”
Ohio State was obviously the most dominant team throughout the game and also the most talented but doesn’t mean Lake Superior ST isn’t a good program or a bad hockey team still being ranked after the heartbreaking loss 9-3.
