Mia Clyde
How would you describe the football season for you?
I would describe the football season as a roller coaster of emotions. We had highs, lows, good times, and rough times. But, it is something that I wouldn’t take back for the world and will always cherish being able to cheer 12 weeks of football with my best friends.
What are your plans after high school?
My plans after high school are to go to YSU to major in exercise science in hopes to be a Physical or Occupational Therapist. I am also looking into and considering continuing my cheerleading career there as well.
What is your favorite season, football or basketball? Why?
My favorite season without a doubt is football. The environment, the emotions, and cheering my heart out for my home team and community is something that I genuinely loved for as long as I can remember. I got very into the football games, and I understand the game more than basketball. I loved cheering for my friends who played as well and with my fellow cheerleaders on the track.
What was a highlight of the season so far?
The highlight of the season for me was the week 11 game. That first playoff game meant so much to me, and that game showed what our football team was completely capable of. That game in particular brought me so much happiness. After a season filled with much adversity, that was the week our team and community felt whole again. I will always cherish that game.
What’s an accomplishment you are proud of?
An accomplishment I am proud of is how far my stunt group has come. Throughout the whole season, my stunt group got progressively better and worked more in sync. We got our hardest stunt, our lib, and did it for the football stands for various games. Hitting that stunt in front of so many people was a feeling that is indescribable, and one that I will never forget.
Elena Bullen
How would you describe the football season for you?
This football season was unforgettable. With it being our senior year, we made many memories that will last a lifetime. We took everything in for it being our last football season. On top of that, we created incredible bonds that I will have forever.
What are your plans after high school?
I plan on attending YSU to major in Early Childhood Education.
What is your favorite season, football or basketball? Why?
My favorite season is football because of so many reasons. I love watching football, but the atmosphere while cheering for it is something special. The whole city just gets so into football, so having that crowd is amazing.
What was a highlight of the season so far?
The highlight of the season was Week 11. Although it was our last game, I took in every last moment on the track with my best friends doing what I love most. The football team played their hearts out and watching them do that was heartwarming.
What’s an accomplishment you are proud of?
An accomplishment I’m proud of is how far my stunt group came over the season. Last year I had a different base, so it was different adjusting but everything worked out. I got a new skill called a “full down” that I love to do, and it was very exciting!
Nadia Galazia
How would you describe the football season for you?
The football season for me was something that I won’t ever forget. Not only it being my senior year and I am cherishing every moment, but it brought back a friend group that once fell apart. There were rough times we all had to overcome, and I hope we still work for that greatness.
What are your plans after high school?
I am going to college and going to either Youngstown State University or Slippery Rock University to major in Early Childhood Education.
What is your favorite season, football or basketball? Why?
My favorite season is definitely football season because the atmosphere is not the same as basketball. The fall season is my favorite. It has the best weather for a football game.
What was a highlight of the season so far?
The highlight of the season would be the playoff game against Perry High School. The boys performed their absolute best keeping a very good team at 3 points. It was an intense game to watch, but it was a great representation of how the team stuck together.
What’s an accomplishment you are proud of?
I am proud that I had a stable stunt group through cheer camp and football season. We expanded with better skills then we had before, and it was fun being a part of a main stunt group throughout the pyramid sequences and on the sidelines.
Gianna Taaffe
How would you describe the football season for you?
One of a kind, I think my senior year was the best it could be; we had some hiccups just as we do every year. I think my friends and I made an unbreakable bond through the season that I will carry with me my whole life.
What are your plans after high school?
I plan to attend YSU to major in criminal justice and minor in forensic science. I hope to be a part of the special victims unit and possibly even take my major into a specific category.
What is your favorite season, football or basketball? Why?
Personally, I love football season. I absolutely love the environment and the people we are around. The bond we make with all the football boys and the coaches and the whole city of Struthers is something I will forever cherish for years on. Also I love football!
What was a highlight of the season so far?
I would say our round one of the playoffs. For one, it was our Halloween game which was a blast, making the Halloween sign was so much fun. But also our boys played extremely incredibly and destroyed Norton High School.
What’s an accomplishment you are proud of?
I am so proud of how my stunt group has come throughout the season. We have worked so hard and came very far; we made so much progress, and I am so proud of everyone.
Kaylyn Vlosich
How would you describe the football season for you?
It was a perfect way to end my football cheerleading career: it was filled with developing new skills, creating and strengthening bonds and cherishing every “last.”
What are your plans after high school?
I plan to attend YSU to earn my undergraduate degree in Biology.
What is your favorite season, football or basketball? Why?
Football is definitely my favorite season because the atmosphere on Friday nights are so special; you can just feel the entire city of Struthers rooting for our team and the spirit is simply unmatched.
What was a highlight of the season so far?
A highlight of the season so far was our first home game. It just perfectly encapsulated the excitement of football season and all of the seniors cherished it so greatly because we knew there was no next year, and this was our last time. We were so excited to show off our sign and all of our new stunts.
What’s an accomplishment you are proud of?
An accomplishment I am proud of is finally being able to do what’s called a ‘Liberty’ in stunting. I’ve always wanted to do this skill. and it is the hardest skill I’ve completed so far.
