The Struthers Wildcats Boys basketball team played the Austintown Fitch Falcons on Friday, November 29.
This game was the start of the boys basketball season.
By the first timeout Struthers was down 6:0. By the end of the first quarter, Struthers was not far behind but was still down 20:16.
Jimmy Shaffer is a sophomore and believes the team could improve on defense.
Shaffer says, “We could have played cleaner defense and stayed out of foul trouble.”
Austintown called the second timeout of the game after Struthers started coming back 27:25.
The center thinks the team could master the basics in practice to improve their game play.
“Running the plays right is huge for us, we just need to go through reps in practice,” says the athlete.
Struthers called the third timeout of the game during the third quarter after losing their momentum leaving the score 50:25 fitch.
The player thinks the season could go either way.
“It could go both ways, it depends if we come to play or not,” says the power forward.
The final score of the game was 87-46, Austintown Fitch Falcons.
