Columbia Pictures creates yet another comedy film.
An hour and thirty nine minute long movie named “Step Brothers” came out in 2008. The movie dives into the plot of two men, Will Ferrell as Brennan Huff and John C. Reilly as Dale Docback, who are in their mid- thirties and become stepbrothers after Brennan’s mother marries Dale’s father. This movie is mainly considered a comedy film. The reactions of both of the stepbrothers’ parents concerned since their sons are thirty and act like their five. The constant worry of having to deal with their sons living with them for the rest of their lives.
Something that can be gathered from watching this movie is the importance of growing up. In the movie, it starts off strong with the main characters acting immature and causing a lot of chaos in the family. As the movie goes on, they start learning how to take more responsibility like getting a job. It didn’t seem to go well though the first time they tried. They mature, and it ends up leading to a better relationship and more fulfilling lives. They didn’t like each other when their parents first got married and would constantly do things to make the other mad. They ended up getting through their issues and evolved. Starting to like each other more and more as the movie progressed. They might have done some immature things at the wrong times while they were together, but they learned good from bad.
Another good aspect of “Step Brothers” is the comedic element. The film is full of humorous situations and the over the top reactions from the other characters. Like when Dale and Brennan built a bunk bed and it collapsed; it was hilarious because of the exaggerated way they handled it. The way the two brothers constantly find themselves in the most absurd situations adds onto the comedic element. They made a music video on a yacht and presented it during a family dinner, leading to a humorous scene. The brothers constantly make witty jokes to each other, and their family members add onto the hilarious tone.
All in all, “Step brothers” is recommended for those who enjoy comedy films. It’s mainly for teenagers and adults as it is rated PG-13 and includes inappropriate and mature language.
