The Ohio State Buckeyes took on the Michigan Wolverines November 30. The Buckeyes lost to the Wolverines by three late in the fourth quarter.
Ohio State lost to Michigan in the final game of the regular season. The final score was 13-10; the Wolverines got a field goal late in the fourth quarter putting them up by three. Ranked two, Ohio State would fall to sixth after the loss to the Wolverines. The Buckeyes are likely to play the Tennessee Volunteers in the first round of the CFB playoffs.
The Buckeyes end the regular season at 10-2 ranked at number six. Both their losses are to Oregon and Michigan. Both games were very close games; they lost by less than six points combined between both games.
Ohio State Head Coach Ryan Day is upset that they couldn’t finish with the win over the Wolverines, after losing to them over the past couple years.
“I mean I’m just now fresh off the game right now and obviously extremely disappointed um and you know angry that we didn’t execute well enough,” said Day.
This game started off at a slow start with the Buckeyes only scoring a field goal with 6:14 left in the first quarter. Michigan’s running back Kalel Mullings would score for a one yard run, putting them up 7-3 with 12:37 left in the second quarter. Michigan wasn’t done before half putting up another three points with 2:15 left in the second. The Buckeyes would find the end zone with 30 seconds left in the second quarter, making the score 10-10 going into half.
Ohio State’s quarterback Will Howard is sorry to all of the Buckeye nation for letting them down and not coming up with the win.
“The bottom line is we lost and it hurts man and I can’t say it enough. I’m sorry to the Buckeye Nation but listen we still got things ahead of us, we can still run the table and win a National Championship,” said Howard.
Howard threw 33 passes completing 19 of them, passing for 175 yards, throwing one touchdown and two interceptions. The Buckeyes had a total of 252 yards having 77 rushing yards and averaged 4.3 yards.
Ohio State’s head coach expects to go play at the BIG 10 championship game and beat Michigan.
“I don’t really have the answer to that, I mean we’re very disappointed, never thought this would happen right here and you know we we’re expecting to win this game and then go play in the Big 10 championship game and neither of those things happen,” said Day.
The Buckeyes have now lost 4 straight games to the Wolverines. The Buckeyes hope to put an end to that losing streak next season with their new players going to be added to their team next year.
