Every song in “Hamilton” is amazing but one that really stands out is “Wait for It.” Some may not agree, but “Wait for It” is one of the best in the musical as well as one of the most powerful songs. “Wait for It” is about Aaron Burr’s desire to be with his lover, Theodosia, even though he knows he can’t because she is married to a British officer. In the end, he decides to wait for his opportunity to actually be with her without it jeopardizing his career. It’s also about Burr’s belief that if we just wait everything will work out in the end. “Wait for It” does a great portrayal of these emotions and the song as a whole really cements these ideas.
There are many hidden messages and details in “Hamilton.” From smaller things like how the different characters walk to bigger things like who the musical is really about. A very nice detail within the musical is the fact that Eliza never raps while everyone else around her does. This is because she lived the longest and had a desire for time and contentment while the rest were racing against time. The little details like this really completes the musical.
Hamilton deserves a 5 star rating for its amazing songs, actors and storytelling.
