Mrs. Nicholas is a Spanish teacher at Struthers High School.
The reason why she wanted to become a teacher was because of the amazing teachers that she had in high school.
Nicholas always wanted to be a teacher but one department that she was thinking about teaching in was the science department.
“I always knew I was going to be a teacher, but I had trouble deciding between teaching Science or Spanish. Ultimately, Spanish was the biggest challenge for me and so that inspired me to choose Spanish and work hard,” says the Spanish 4 teacher.
Nicholas is undecided on where she will be in 5 years, but she does know that she will still be working in the education field.
The way that the teacher motivates students to learn is by choosing topics that fit today’s trends, and she tries to work hard every day to influence her students.
“I try to make it relevant by choosing topics they are interested in. I also know I am a model, so I have to be hard-working and at my best every day if I want them to work hard as well,” says the teacher.
The Spanish Club coordinator likes to spend time with family and friends, travel, do yoga and learn about different cultures.
Her students would have to describe her as dedicated to her profession.
“I think they would describe me as hardworking and at times, serious. But ultimately, I hope they would know I will help them with anything they need,” says the Struthers teacher.
One of the hidden talents that she has is that she can identify many types of trees just by looking at the way the leaves look.
