“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” is the second movie in “The Hunger Games” dystopian series. It came out November 22, 20213, in the United States.
This movie is around 2 hours and 26 minutes long, and it takes place a year after Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss Everdeen) and Josh Hutcherson (Peeta Mellark) won their games. In the beginning of the movie, it shows how much the games affect Katniss and how she is extremely traumatized from it. Katniss and Peeta are forced to go on a tour to talk and show off to every district, but as they are doing this many civilians are losing their lives from having hope. As time goes on, Donald Sutherland (President Snow) doesn’t believe Peeta and Katniss’s love story, and he threatens to kill both Peeta’s and Katniss’s families. Because of the rising hope because of Katniss, Snow decided that in this year’s games they would bring the existing winners back from each district. This causes Katniss and Peeta to come back. After this Katniss and Peeta endure a second game, and they fight for their lives. At the end of the movie, it shows that Katniss destroyed the games and got rescued, but Peeta was kidnapped by the Capitol.
One very entertaining part of the movie are the special effects that they used. All of the things they show look so real that it makes you forget that it’s all fake. Seeing the arena where they fight is such an unreal feeling because it looks majestic. They used a bunch of different CGI to show the arrows, train, and nature to make the movie so much better.
Another thing that makes the movie so entertaining is how they portray Peeta and Katniss’s relationship. Throughout the movie, they show that even though they are acting like they love each other, it’s really not an act. Through life threatening situations they show in the film, it really shows how much they truly care about each other. This makes the movie so much better because it lets the audience know how they feel about each other before they even do get together.
Taking all of this into account, “The Hunger Games” is very recommended for people 13 and up who enjoy watching action and suspenseful movies because of the violence and gore shown.
