Angelina Carcelli is a junior in high school on the Struthers Varsity soccer team who won Student Athlete of the Week.
The athlete’s favorite parts of soccer are playing with her friends and competing competitively against other teams.
Carcelli’s unforgettable times of the past season consist of learning a new trick and setting a record.
“My most memorable moments are either in the South Range game after scoring my hat trick or scoring two goals against Poland making a new record,” says Carcelli.
The junior has been playing soccer since she was 4 and has been on a club team since she was 9.
Carcelli is most influenced by Yamine Yamal for the talent he has at his age and her club coach for all she has learned from him.
“I would say that my biggest inspiration is Yamine Yamal because he is a 16 year old who went pro. And if it had to be someone I know, I would say it is my club coach, he has taught me everything I know and inspires me everyday,” says Carcelli.
The athlete does not have her heart set on any college but hopes to go to one that offers her a soccer scholarship.
Carcelli is pleased with herself for earning Student Athlete of the Week.
“It made me feel good knowing that my coach is proud of me and that hard work pays off,” says Carcelli.
The athlete plans on majoring in psychology and then she hopes to move to New York.
