North Dakota started off their season not too hot, losing 3 straight games to Boston University and 2 back-to-back games to Cornell.
North Dakota moves to number 9 ranked as Cornell moves up to number 6 ranked.
North Dakota center Sacha Boisvert had a good game having one goal and one assist leading the team in points for that game.
Brad Berry, North Dakota Head Coach, believes his team played a strong game through all aspects of the game.
Berry said, “I thought we went North with the puck and I thought our guys did a good job. Our d-men were taking ice and they were jumping up on the play. Monty made a great play on one of the goals there.”
Cornell started off their season strong winning their first three games against University of Toronto and 2 against the University of North Dakota. Cornell is projected to have a great year this year and is planning to do better than last year.
After starting off the 1st period, Cornell jumped out to an early lead early on in the game as Jake Kraft scored a rebound at the side of the net to give Cornell 1-0 lead the first three minutes into the game.
Mike Schafer, Cornell Head Coach, thinks the team started the game off hot.
Schafer said, “I think we came out we started off the game strong and uh um you know good couple good goal in the in the first to to get us going”
North Dakota came into this season having high hopes of potentially winning or competing for a nation championship, so having these rough couple of losses at the beginning of the season really hurts them.
North Dakota is hoping to bounce back from these past couple games of the season and then be a more dominant team in the offensive and defensive zone.
Sacha Boisvert, North Dakota player, believes he has improved throughout the season as well as his other teammates and hopes to continue improving and winning more games.
Berry said, “Really think about that every weekend, I just want to play hockey, focus on myself, focus on the team, and I don’t really think about the rankings or any of that. I’m picking up the pace a little bit and everything. It’s been a growing experience for me the first, and I’m excited to see what’s to come. ”
Cornell was the stronger and more competitive team, and it was proven against the matchup against North Dakota on November 2, winning the game 5-3 domination from late in the first period throughout the game.
