Nico Calabrette is a junior in high school and has been playing football since 3rd grade. He plays as an offensive line.
The football player is motivated to play because he enjoys the sport, but his dad, his brother, and his coaches contribute to that motivation. The coach that helps him the most is Coach Greenamyer.
Calabrette gets ready for a game by getting something to eat that helps his body and resting.
“I prepare for a game by eating the right meal because if you eat too much it causes you to get sick. I also relax so my muscles are able to work well during the game,” says Calabrette.
The player feels that the best part of the sport is getting what you work for and what you know you deserve. On the other hand, he thinks that the worst part of the sport is when you work extra hard but don’t get rewarded, especially when he doesn’t get the playing time.
Calabrette gets nervous during games when he makes a mistake, and then he over analyzes his plays.
“I get stressed out by messing up, and I overthink a lot about it,” says Calabrette.
When the player wins a game, he feels super proud of himself because he works really hard for everything in football. When he loses, he feels it’s really upsetting because there are a lot of physical and mental aspects that you put into the game, and he feels like he wasted them when the team loses.
The player ignores the student section during Friday night football games, but other players don’t.
“I don’t pay attention to them at all, but some other players definitely do,” says Calabrette.
He is undecided what he plans to do after high school, but he doesn’t feel he’s going to play football after his senior year.
