Riley Guy is a sophomore at Struthers High School. She is a multi-sport athlete. She enjoys basketball and has been playing for 5 years. She enjoys hanging out with friends and family, going to the gym and listening to music in her free time.
This basketball star stays motivated from her father and because she enjoys her sport a lot. Even when times are tough, she pushes through to be her best self.
Guy gets ready for her games and enjoys her dad’s wise words to strengthen her mindset.
¨I just think of my Dad and how I want to make him and myself proud. I also tell myself that I’ve been working this hard to get to this point, so why would I give up now,¨ says Guy.
This player loves the adrenaline rush this sport gives you. She loves the feeling of success when she scores or blocks on defense. Getting to celebrate with her team makes everyone proud.
Unfortunately in such a contact sport, she has gotten hurt playing before.
¨It’s a very physical sport. I’ve gotten a concussion and sprained my ankle. But that never stopped me from playing,¨ says Guy.
Guy is very dedicated to her sport. She’s always hardworking and pushing to be the best version of herself. She loves everything she does and will continue through her high school career. Her coaches push her as well including Coach M, and the assistant coaches, Borgamis, Jac, and Coach Delaney.
She expresses the team’s character and sportsmanship and the connections they build during the season.
“I like to think I’m a good player, and I think my team is great. We all know each other and are friends. While we might not be as skilled as bigger schools, I think our team bond gives us an advantage,” says Guy.
Overall, Guy is an amazing person and player. Her hard work and dedication to her team is outstanding. Her sportsmanship and bonds she creates really helps her enjoy her sport no matter the hardships along the way. She really enjoys everything she does and is very hardworking.
