Ava Croyle is a student athlete at Struthers High School playing three different sports: basketball, tennis and soccer. She’s currently in her basketball season and is in control of the court as a sophomore.
Croyle is the starting center for the Lady Cats; she has been a big asset to the team. She has been playing for most of her life, so she has a lot of experience even as an underclassman. The sport has become a part of Croyle’s everyday life, and she doesn’t know what she would do without it.
Her motivation is how much she has given to the sports, and even if it makes her mad, she still loves it.
“My motivation is how much I love the sport. I get frustrated with it sometimes, but then remember how long I have been playing and keep going,” says Croyle.
This year is a big year for Croyle as she is a starting sophomore in basketball, an All- Conference player in tennis and captain in soccer. She also maintains a 4.0 GPA in the classroom and is in a variety of different clubs. Even though she is in all of these extracurricular activities, she prefers basketball over all of them.
She started playing basketball due to her big sister.
“I used to watch my older sister play, and I wanted to be just like her so I started playing,” says Croyle.
She had many goals for herself and the team that she would like to reach by the end of her high school career. She feels that the team and herself have some work to do to get to where she wants to be. She’s all seriousness on the floor but still enjoys playing with her friends and has fun when playing.
What Croyle loves most is that her friends have her back on the court.
“I get to play with friends and that they’ll be there if I mess up to help me,” says Croyle.
