The Struthers Wildcats football team started off the season with a record of 1-4. The boys did not let this affect their spirit, as they won the next 4 games.
The Wildcats team was at risk of not making the playoffs this season. However, if the boys beat their rivals this Friday, they are going to play a home playoff game.
Struthers has a loaded team this year and has a lot of spirit throughout the whole team.
Struthers has a huge senior class this year filled with a lot of guys from last year but it also has a lot of key younger guys.
“For me, it doesn’t change anything. Anyone can be a leader, it doesn’t just have to be a senior,” says Robert Carcelli, a sophomore on the varsity team.
The team has really started to show their true colors and everyone is coming together. The Wildcats look better right now than they have all season long.
The team was pretty upset in the beginning of the season; they knew that they were much better than what their record was.
“But we all knew we were better than 1-4 and we had to show it, and that’s what we’re doing now,” says Devin Braham, a big role player on the team.
The Wildcats have a huge game coming up this friday against their big rivals, the Poland Bulldogs.
The team has to have a good mindset going into the game and be on the same page.
The team is really starting to build up chemistry, and they need to put it to use.
“I think we have built up more chemistry as the team is close and always focused on the goal at hand, which is to just go 1-0 every week,” says Vince Boila, a big offensive guy for the cats up front.
The Cats want this win for the school and most of all, for themselves.
